DEBATE – “IS NUCLEAR POWER A MUST FOR EVERY COUNTRY?”
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I am here to speak about the topic, “Is nuclear power a must for every country?” +
Currently most of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels. Unfortunately, burning these fossil fuels also pollutes the air and drives global warming. Also, the population of the world is on a rise. And now, the world’s increasing demands for energy and reducing fossil fuels leave us with two alternatives, (a) change our habits and live like we lived a million years ago or (b) change our energy resources. And I’m sure the audience knows which one is the intelligent choice - changing our energy sources.
There are renewable resources like solar and wind power but, they are extremely expensive, not reliable and chew up a large amount of space. But thankfully, there is one more option left… and that is nuclear power! It is an excellent energy source- it doesn’t even produce air pollution!! In addition to that, nuclear power offers the possibility of large quantities of electricity that is cleaner than coal, more secure than gas and more reliable than wind. Nuclear power plants need less fuel than ones which burn fossil fuels. One ton of uranium produces more energy than is produced by several million tons of coal or several million barrels of oil.
Along with being clean, nuclear power can be generated cheaply. And, there are pretty good ways of storing radioactive waste generated.
My worthy opponent might say that nuclear power plants are not safe. But, they are extremely safe and are getting safer second by second and even now, at this time, while we are arguing. I would like to point out that, in the U.S.A. zero have been killed by nuclear power plants but wind power plants have led to more deaths.
And, also as my opponents consistently question the safety of nuclear energy time and again, I must share with you a quote – “A nuclear power plant is infinitely safer than eating, because 300 people choke to death on food every year.”
Thank you ladies and gentlemen. Have a nice day!

today we have many options of getting towards progress but this energy take away all human potential
