[Edit] Should women be required to receive mandatory counseling prior to an abortion? |
[Edit] Background and contextIn the debate surrounding abortion, many believe that one of the most important factors is the lack of information surrounding abortion, and that if women just knew more about what they were actually doing, that they would think twice. This has caused many to call for mandatory counseling of women that are seeking abortions. In these counseling sessions a certain set number of risks, alternatives, and issues surrounding abortions are to be presented to the women. Both the hospital and the women would be required by state and federal law to submit to this process. While their are multiple objections, one of the more prominent is that this might undermine a woman's right to privacy. |
