Argument: Most Catholics now reject the death penalty
Cathlynn Morse, a Catholic mother of a son murdered in California in 2002, in a letter to US Archbishop Charles J. Chaput - I believe in the sacredness of all life. Even now I pray for the man who murdered my son...My belief that all life is sacred has not changed. I do not believe that the death sentence is one of society’s legitimate choices. I am someone who has been directly affected by violence in my life, specifically the violence of murder. But my faith in a loving and forgiving God tells me capital punishment is morally wrong.
