Pro

Self-defense allows children to protect themselves against more harmful people. It shows the bully/criminal that you can take them.Eventually, they will just stop sttacking you. Whether they attack you mentally, physically, or emotionally, you can be protected.

Con

Self-defense really only makes everything worse! If the bully/criminal attacks you, you are not suppose to fight back. Fighting back only shows the attacker that you want to fight them. They will take it as a challenge, even though you really just want everything to stop.

There are other ways to defend yourself from an attacker other than using violence. Yelling, "NO!" often makes the bully feel awkward. Using humor does just as much the same. When using these two defenses, the bully may feel embarrased because as they harm you in any way, you just laugh it off.Distracting the offender is another commonly used defense.Perhaps you say," Who's that person? Are they new?" Doing so would distract the bully and give you time to make a reaction such as running away.

Con

If humor, distractions, and yelling,"NO" have a positive effect on you, they must also have a negative effect. Often, telling them no or laughing will make them want to harm you more. It gives them the urge to 'accidentally' slap you, call you a bad name, etc..Dstracting them, on the other hand, can be similar. Lets say that you distract a bully and your reaction is to run away. Well, once the offender realizes you have made your turn, they will come after you twice the speed! Once they catch up to you, they will likely pin/harm you even more.

Who are we to let a child be beaten because the school won't allow self-defense? Who are we to watch a child being bloodied-up and not doing a thing, yet we won't help either? Who are we to bully a kid, knowing they can't/won't fight back. We are who we are,our actions are everything, and defending ourselves is with no doubt, the way to go.

Con

We are not meant to fight, we are not meant to defend. A victim is not meant to take action, because a bully was never meant to throw a fist.Quote," hands and words were meant for helping, not harming ".
