Is censorship every justified? If so, when?

Background and Context

This article covers the fairly open-ended debate about government censorship of actions or messages coming from a country's citizens. Censorship is generally accepted in some circumstances. Although some may debate this, the main question is in what specific situations it is justified. These situations and the pro and con arguments involved in each are explored below.

Free speech: Can censorship be justified in the context of free speech?

This cannot be cosidered as an infringement upon people's rights as the internet does have unauthorisable content which isn't recommended for public viewing due to many reasons, let it be the age factor, or the fact that it simply is unethical or indecent. The internet though provides us with a plethora of information also houses websites which are blamed by behavious experts for changing children's mindsets or rather corrupting it. Thus it is the role of the government, to PROTECT its citizens from such content. The government isn't being unreasonable or trying to define what is good or bad for the people by censoring the internet. Its doing its duty by protecting its people from potential danger which can be avoided through censorship. for example let us talk about porn. The government censors such websites to ensure the children and the youth of its country do not get corrupt or get lured into such sites. Singapore banned 3 porn sites recently. We can also talk about those websites which, in the name of freedom of speech and expression give out those valuable inside information of a country's defence or administrative policy which is often misused by non-state actors thus causing a direct threat to the country's peace, harmony and stability. It is thus justified that the government censors the internet and it is in no way an infringement of an individual's right to expression or speech.
