From Debatepedia
A major part of the energy used nowadays (especially in the transportation sector) comes from oil and its derivatives. The US and most of the European countries are no longer able to cover their oil consumption from their own sources and are therefore dependent on oil imported from other countries, with political and economical consequences. Energy independence is a vision of replacing the oil with some other fuel/energy source that can be produced domestically. This category comprises articles related to energy independence.
